We love staying at Ideal Beach Resort because everything we want is right there. There is the private beach, pools, hot tubs, tennis, basketball, volleyball, kids playground, mini golf, and water craft rental. There is something for everyone. We love that we don't have to go anywhere once we get there. Except of course for the Bear Lake Raspberry milkshakes!!
Myron and I spent a weekend in the Spring checking out the area for other accommodations and what is available. I will list what we found and websites to check out. The best deals we found were to share your accommodations with families, it ends up helping with the costs. Other less expensive options were camping, but they book up well in advance so if you are planning on that route, make your reservations soon.
FYI, with our family we split the cost amongst the adults and it makes it affordable.

He has several properties (homes) that he rents out that are fabulous, we checked out several of them when we were there last Spring. These homes slept 20-30 people and by splitting the costs with adults it made it very affordable. It's a less expensive option.
RV/camping options: http://traveltips.usatoday.com/camping-bear-lake-utah-2688.html
Bart & Cherie Christensen have an RV park in Grace, Idaho - (80 miles from Bear Lake)
Montpelier is 38 miles away with affordable motels
Soda Springs is 68 miles away with affordable motels.
There are also some government campgrounds not too far away, i.e. Emigration campground and
there are 3 or 4 campgrounds on the road up to Minnetonka cave. (These are usually fairly kind on the pocket book)
Website to check out campgrounds www.recreation.gov Wynn stated that you can reserve campsites up to 180 days before you arrive. If you are interested in first hand information on campgrounds from Wynn give him a call.
Go to www.bearlake.org for more information on accommodations
www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) is a great site for finding rentals in an area you are looking for. Our family has used this site and found great deals over the years at Bear Lake and Park City. Go to the website, type in Garden City, Utah, Bear Lake and select the dates you want. It will bring up rentals available. When you split the costs among families it makes it very affordable. Many of the rentals we have found could sleep many families, or just a few depending on your needs. We have always found vrbo to work out very well.
The internet is also a great resource for accommodations at Bear Lake, there are many options for different price ranges.
